a very brief background of "santi"
Sisky Biz, the bassist of The Academy Is... [yes, ellipsis and all] had a high school enemy named "Santiago".
the boys of TAI decided to irritate him by using "santi" for greeting him and whatnot.
after that, they kind of got used to saying "santi" a lot, so now they say it as an offering of goodwill and such.
early last year, their drummer, The Butcher, got it tattooed on his right buttock, thinking that the rest of the guys were going to do the same.
he has regretted since and now has a GIANT geisha tattooed over.
if you're interested, you can see "santi" on his buttock in the video "slow down".
last week, Sisky had HIS buttock tattooed with a pretty little "santi" and they showed his tattooing experience on their website, theacademyis.com
he looks happy.
i read somewhere that Santi had associates like Panti, Canti and Fruscianti.
anyway, they've named their up and coming album...
ta-dah, SANTI.
the use of "santi"
"santi" started out as a substitute for "hello", "goodbye", "thank you", "you're welcome", "sorry", etc etc.
however, in 07a08, it has now evolved into "anything you want"
so if you're happy, you're santi.
if you're feeling fucked, you're feeling santi.
on a serious note,
"santi" is "peace" in sanskrit.
"i santi" is "the saints" in italian.
so if you feel like cursing, use santi.
if you feel like there's no other word to express your joy, use santi.
one last thing, if you want to beat syarah at the calculator game, one useful trick to deploy is to distract her by talking to her using A LOT of santis.
oh.
most importantly,
SANTI is coming.
